Pixel Advertising is Dead

December 20th, 2006

Even Alex Tew can’t seem to get his going much past $140K. He had a huge list of customers and other pixel people, but Pixelotto has been sitting stagnant for over a week now. Too bad Alex - maybe we could have done something together on this earlier in the summer. Oh well. What’s next folks?

Drop your flowers here for Pixel advertising, donations to the mourning family are also appreciated. Send your donations to Paypal: payment@questforthemillion.com and we’ll post your link here - not on the pixel board as no one seems to care anymore.Pixel Advertising Rest in Peace

It’s heating up - are we racing with Alex Tew’s Pixelotto?

December 5th, 2006

Thanks to Mr. X who told us “I’m sick of this

Alex Tew guy trying for another million. I challenge you guys to try and

beat him somehow. I hope this helps!”

Traffic is starting to go nuts - more growth than we’ve seen in weeks.

We’ll post some traffic stats tomorrow.

Also we’re thinking of a way we can beat Alex’s site.

Come on affiliates and clickers - give us some ideas!

Cheers,

Peter

It’s true - Alex Tew copied us. We’re in shock.

December 5th, 2006

Wow we can’t believe it. Remeber Alex Tew? - an innovative guy who had a great idea - the original milliondollarhomepage.com

We all loved him for being so unique.

After he came out with that in late 2005, every one started copying him. There must have been 1000 pixel sites at one point.

So I thought - there’s got to be something better. Let’s make something where the visitors are more engaged in the site.

It would be good for advertisers and keep people returning - a sticky site.

So I got some partners together and we spent 100’s of hours putting together

not just another pixel site, but one where we give away $1,000,000 dollars,

…and with a generous affiliate program

…and a blog to get more traffic back to the advertisers.

We launched in June 2006.

QuestForTheMillion launches summer 2006

To be honest our site did not take off. Why not? We figured it was due to the summer time and the pixel fad wearing off. Before we launched, we had sent this email to Alex Tew, asking for his input. He never replied. But we think he read it.

EMail to Alex Tew

Our site’s been up the whole time and yes we have gotten some advertisers, but no big leap in sales. Then today - bam! - an email from Alex announcing his latest new idea - Pixelotto.

At first we were honoured but then upset that he copied us. But now we’re

kind of wondering what’s the deal and is that really all he could come up with

after a year sipping pints in University?

Alex's big announcement
It’s basically what we came out with in the summer of 2006.

The big difference is that Alex’s site requires registration to play, has no affiliate program, and not even a blog.

Bring it on Alex, we think we can do better.
Here’s the deal. We’re cheaper, we were first, and we have an affiliate program where we pay people to send us advertisers.
Sign up today as an affiliate and show us who deserves to get there first.

Alex Tew copied us

Wow - is it an honour or what? Alex Tew, the originator of the MillionDollarHomePage, has started his own “win a million” pixel site…. about 1/2 a year after we did. Good luck Alex!

First ad sold

October 16th, 2006

Thanks to Angie for buying the first Clickbank ad for October on our site. It’s been very quiet for a while but we are seeing some affiliate commissions coming in for our advertisers. We wish Angie a great return on her investment.

New strategy

August 10th, 2006

Sigh. It was clear to us that the high priced pixel ads were not selling as fast as we want to. So our new plan for our Quest For The Million is to drop the price to a low $5 per 10×10 block, but once they sell out we will move to a bidding system.

Will it work? Who knows. We’re using Google Analytics to test the traffic and here’s the stats to date:

Aug 11 Traffic sucking bigtime

We have at least one advertiser who has already made a sale for over $40, so the basic idea of having people click on the ads must be working - someone bought something from someone, and that’s the basis for any business :)

Live!

August 3rd, 2006

We took the site out of stealth mode and it’s now live on the net. Some promotion is planned for this week. Must get some sleep :)

VIP Preview feedback

July 29th, 2006

We’ve been letting some VIP partners in on our site and the feedback has been great. The bottom line is people get the idea and are hooked on looking for the darn tickets for a chance to win the big $1,000,000 prize. Other comments are that the affiliate program is a nice twist and we’ve got every social bookmark site under the sun so traffic for our advertisers should be high.
